How Did I Ever End Up Owning a Company?

CEO FOR DUMMIES:

The Horse D'oeuvre Factory, LLC is a startup company owned by Marty Hall. Marty owns Bert the Quarter Horse, Seekers Class Act, who resides at Rosewood Farm in Winston-Salem, NC. For fun, Marty decided to make horse treats for Christmas and none of the recipes in books or the internet appealed to her, so she started making them up! Eventually, there were six different treats. With people urging her to market them, her entrepreneurial spirit was peaked. Starting a company the correct way is very possible, but complicated. It took many months of research and help from the Small Business Technology Center, and good friends to get the company started. But, we are still here! We are a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau and The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce. Please scroll below to read our privacy notice.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Well ... all corporations MUST have a mission statement so ... here it is! Well, we want to make a million dollars, but in lieu of that goal, we will be happy feeding treats to horses and kissing their noses! The company's mission, however, is to educate the public on the proper care and feeding of horses, the joy and benefits of horseback riding for the human and horse, and to support rescue groups for all animals because not everyone is as responsible as we would like them to be. Be happy and hug a horse!

PRIVACY NOTICE:

When I became a member of the Better Business Bureau, they explained that I must provide a privacy notice on my website. I honestly didn't know what they were talking about at first, but I realize it is on many websites that I have used. This protects you as a consumer and is VERY IMPORTANT, so read on. (I even made Bert, the Quarter Horse read it, but he only wanted to eat the paper, so I guess he understood. He's very smart, you know.) The funny thing is that I do things securely and do retain your privacy, but I just didn't let you know that I did, and what you could do if you had questions, etc., so read on ...

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for The Horse D'oeuvre Factory, LLC. A privacy notice is based on the following 5 things:

1) Notice: what personal info is being collected on this site

2) Choice: Do you have a choice of how/whether your info is collected or used

3) Access: How you can see what data is being collected and change if necessary.

4) Security: State how info is stored and protected.

5) Redress: What can you do if I don't follow my privacy policy.

I am the sole owner of this website and have the only access to information collected from this site. The only way I can get this info is if you voluntarily submit an order, and this info is used to process/ship your order, or contact you if I have a question about the order. I will not sell or rent this info to anyone. I will not share this info with anyone outside of this organization, unless it is necessary to fulfill your request (example, shipping an order requires that someone at the shipping place sees your name and address).

This website allows you the opportunity to join which I may use in the future, but at this point you do not have to join to submit an order. Although voluntary, any information that you enter into this website to register, will be treated as secure personal information. This information will be be handled in the same fashion as any other secure private information collected on this site and treated accordingly.

At some point, I may generate a mailing list. If you do not wish to be included on this list, please contact me using the info at the bottom of this epistle. If you have any questions about what data I have on you, wish to change or correct any data, delete any info I have on you, or express any concern you have about the use of this info, please let me know. I personally hate it when people in companies generate a blanket email to anyone on a list, so I do understand if you don't want to be included. Just let me know.

This use a secure service to collect money from you. The sensitive information (credit card info) received with the order is encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser (I didn't know this before BBB), or by looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. The computer used to store and process your order which has personally identifiable info is in a secure environment (password protected, more internet security than even paranoid folks use, and 2 very large German Shepherds who protect me and every thing in this establishment).

We have a contest for the Horse of the Month. Any information you give us for this contest is strictly voluntary, and you my request what info you wish posted to the website. For example, if you do not want the name of the barn or specific town, etc., I will be happy to ablige. I will have to have specific info in order to contact you for clarification , if necessary, and to mail you prize! As above, I will not share this info with anyone except those who must have it to ship your prize.

If you feel that I am not abiding by the above policy or you have questions about any of the info on the site or this page, please contact me immediately:
